Air Ambulance Resources
Families who call Global Air Response have many questions about the steps necessary to transport their loved one from one medical facility to another. Because transport -- via either air or ground -- is quite expensive, it's natural to question whether insurance will cover the cost.
It's been our experience that about one-third of all patients who we transport will qualify for some measure of insurance reimbursement. The first place to look is your policy with a comprehensive health care insurer, such as Blue Cross & Blue Shield, AIG or Aetna.
Insurance companies have stringent requirements regarding the conditions necessary to qualify for air ambulance cost reimbursement. In most cases, an urgent medical need, documented by a physician, is required for reimbursement.
Medicaid, in some instances of medical necessity, will cover air ambulance services. Medicare and Medicare Gap have a very stringent two-part requirement that virtually eliminates coverage under those insurances. If you are traveling abroad, Medicare does NOT provide coverage for hospital or medical costs outside the USA.
If your insurance does cover patient transport services, the insurance claims personnel at Global Air Response will help with the reimbursement process. We'll ask for the necessary information prior to your trip so the claim can be processed promptly.

"I have had the pleasure of working with Global Air Response countless times during the past few years. From the time the call is referred, I've experienced professionalism and commitment from the entire staff who constantly keep the transferring and receiving parties apprised of all scheduling issues, including ground transportation. Additionally, the company has reviewed completed cases with me to ensure that the safest, most cost-effective means of transportation had been utilized for patients."
